Dimitrios Kalogeropoulos exp realty

Growing up in Ottawa, Canada, Dimitrios Kalogeropoulos’ parents taught him that it was important for everyone to contribute to the family. To help make ends meet, he started selling TVs by day and cleaning government buildings by night. He also helped pay for his sister’s wedding and bought a house for his mom.

A little more than a decade later, this grit would serve him well as a new real estate agent, when he was going door-to-door with his baby in tow. 

“I was door-knocking one day and landed a for-sale-by-owner with my son,” Dimitrios said. “It was an $800,000 house. She said, ‘Is that a baby?’ I said, ‘Yes, I need diapers.’ I ended up making $36,000 on that house.”

That first year in real estate, he closed 12 transactions. In 2021, after 10 years at Royal LePage, he closed 250 transactions for $170 million. He had built a strong foundation there, but was drawn to eXp Realty because of its momentum as a cloud-based, international real estate company

“I knew that I was making some pretty big quantum leaps in my business and wanted to go global and expand to the U.S. and Greece,” said Dimitrios. “My company was Canadian only, so I would have to align myself with a company that was also expanding. eXp was on my radar because it was growing so quickly. Who better to help me grow my business than someone who understands growth and collaboration?”

Before he joined eXp Realty in December 2021, he went to EXPCON 2021 with one of his friends, Vancouver-based eXp real estate agent John Tsai

“After the first day, I looked at my friend and said, ‘You know what? I’m in. I can go home now. This company is incredible,’” Dimitrios said. “Everywhere I looked, people were collaborating, growing, sharing. Everyone was helping everyone. There was no segregation based on production. There were breakout sessions, agents talking and everyone was willing to collaborate.”

When and why did you join eXp?

“I joined December 2021. A few of my good friends across North America made the switch. I sat back and watched them all improve their business and lifestyles by increasing their sales and I saw them earning the additional income from the stock programs and the revenue share income from helping others to join the company. I also was looking to move to a company that was global and Royal LePage is Canadian-only.”

What makes eXp special to you? 

“Prior to joining the company, I attended EXPCON in November 2021 to get an inside look at the company, and I was blown away with the people, the culture, the technology and the overall positive energy that was taking place. To me, the collaborative culture is what makes eXp so special.  Everyone truly wants to help everyone else succeed.”

Is there a significant experience you can share since you joined eXp?

“It’s only been five days, but I can tell you that the onboarding experience was top-notch. I was a little concerned that moving companies would be a big distraction and would cause a disruption in my production, but it was seamless and incredibly smooth for myself and my team.”

What is one thing about eXp that surprised you?

“How easy it was to make the switch from my old brokerage!”

What kind of collaboration have you experienced at eXp?

“So far, I had a ‘Welcome Facebook Live’ session with my sponsor and two other agents in my upline. They gave me a very warm and heartfelt welcome! A few agents reached out to me afterwards and they expressed interest in eXp from me and I‘ve set up a few calls for next week with agents.”

Best tip to share with other agents:

“How you do anything is how you do everything. Put maximum effort into everything you do in your business as everything you do is a reflection of you as an agent and a reflection of how you run your business.”
