After 32 years with a major national brokerage, Andrew Franklin and his sister, Sarah Savard, felt it was time for a new direction. They led The Franklin Team, a high-production team in Houston they bought from their father, Jimmy, in 2013. The brokerage costs were high and the return was low. And while they thought about going independent, they discovered a better option was joining eXp Realty.
“There was no value for what we were paying,” said Andrew. “No one cared about the brand and the balloon. We didn’t use their tools or training. And when I showed my dad the eXp model, he pushed us to join.”
Andrew came to learn of eXp through his first coaches, Kevin Kauffman and Fred Weaver, who also made the bold move to leave their big-box brokerage for eXp.
“They’re the reason we’re at eXp and it’s phenomenal,” said Andrew. “Best business decision we ever made. Agents love it. Revenue share and stock is great.”

When and why did you join eXp?
“We joined (September 2018) because the value of what we were getting and paying for at RE/MAX was not adding up. We were strongly considering going independent but saw eXp as a better option than going independent. We could give our agents the opportunity to be compensated for helping grow the company and could give the ownership in a company we believed in. Things we couldn’t do if we went the independent route. It has been a life-changing move for us and our agents.”

”The collaboration and the opportunity for multiple different streams of income that no other brokerage can or will offer.”
Is there a significant experience you can share since you joined eXp?
“We have had agents on the team pay off houses, buy retirement property and buy vehicles in cash from stock gains they got from eXp.”

“How much culture and collaboration exists at a virtual brokerage.”
Have you had any experience or success around eXp’s global revenue share and commercial businesses yet?
“We have ~900 agents in our revenue share organization and it continues to be the biggest opportunity we have ever seen in residential real estate.”
What kind of collaboration have you experienced at eXp?
“So much collaboration. The agents in our revenue share group have turned into friends, business partners and people we share every business idea / tip with. We also have built awesome relationships with agents not in our rev share group.”
Best tip to share with other agents:
“Give your client advice without the commission in mind. Put them first and it will pay off in the long run. Also be responsive and professional. Sounds cliche and easy but so many agents don’t do either.”
