As we enter the midpoint of 2020, it’s exciting to highlight eXp Realty’s phenomenal, fast-paced agent growth, which continues at startling speed. As of July 16, 2020, eXp’s agent total is now more than 31,000 agents across the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom and Australia. 

This accomplishment is pretty significant when you consider a mere 25 agents jumped on board back in October 2009 when Glenn Sanford, Founder and CEO of eXp World Holdings had the idea of a cloud-based brokerage. It was born out of necessity — the housing crash of 2008 forced a different approach — and being a real estate agent himself, he also liked the idea of rewarding agents more for their heavy lifting. Essentially, by discarding the huge overhead of brick-and-mortar offices and doing more with less traditional trappings agents could be rewarded much better for their efforts. 

The idea was wildly futuristic. A cloud-based brokerage? But it worked.  Take a look at the steady increase in agents joining eXp in the chart below. 

“Just five years ago we began the year with fewer than 500 agents at eXp Realty,” said Dave Conord, eXp President U.S. Growth. “In a model with zero staff recruiters, where the growth is 100% driven by agent word of mouth, this milestone is a testament to our model and how it resonates with agents across the world.  Agents vote with their feet, and they’re choosing eXp!”

By 2016, there were 1,500 agents at eXp and then the numbers started compounding. By October 2017, eXp had 5,000 registered agents, then 10,000 by April 2018 and the upward spiral continued. Today, eXp has more than 31,000 agents across the globe.
