Clark Says Top Talent Is Being Drawn to eXp’s ‘Nearly Free Brokerage Model’
Dean Clark knows how to keep things in sharp focus. He likes to tell his New Jersey buyers that places like Hoboken and Jersey City offer sensational New York City skyline views.
“Why would you want to be living in the view, when it’s better to see the view?” Dean said.
It’s no wonder that Dean has racked up more than $450 million in sales since 2010.
By using that same clear-eyed thinking, Dean decided in 2022 to move his Hoboken-based Dean Clark Group from RE/MAX to eXp Realty.
“I started vetting every local brokerage in the second quarter of 2022. After several meetings, offers, and hours of poring over the data, nothing made as much sense to me and my team’s future as eXp,’’ Dean said.
He calls the move “one of the most astute financial decisions I’ve ever made.”
“It’s basically an almost free brokerage model. There is so much autonomy. It’s also where the talent is going. There are a lot of copycats, but the talent that sees the potential is coming to eXp,’’ he said.
“The Payoffs After Moving to eXp Were Immediate”
“I’ve already earned revenue share. I capped (within six weeks of joining) and that was during the time when the market wasn’t great. I’m sitting at 100% and now my team is on the verge of capping out, too. They are all producing and capping too,’’ he said.
> Read why revenue share is better than profit sharing
The Dean Clark Group sold $40 million in 2022, and in the seven months since moving to eXp, Dean said he is using every tool eXp has to grow bigger and faster. It’s been the perfect situation for taking his current five-agent team to new heights.
“I’m in building mode; 100% full throttle. eXp’s systems, infrastructure, accounting and training are all incredible. So is the support,’’ he said.
Dean said he is blown away by the sharing and accessibility among eXp agents.
“I sent an email to Curtis Shewell. He’s a big agent, big producer and huge in revenue share. I never thought he would respond to me. I was blown away that he remembered me and had a system in place. He gave me the best advice. The fact that he was there to respond was amazing,’’ he said.
eXp’s Workplace Provides Leads and Referrals
Dean said that he embraces the autonomy that eXp offers, the network of like-minded agents to bounce ideas, and the referral opportunities in the workplace are never-ending.
“I go to Workplace Groups every day. Actually, it’s an initiative with my team to go into Workplace five days a week to see if there are any opportunities that we can take advantage of. There’s a lot of activity. I’ve gotten referrals. Hudson Country is so unique; many agents don’t want to tap into it. They will be working in Cape May and refer clients to us.”
