This series “Where Are They Now?” focuses on eXp Realty agents and brokers and how their lives have changed since joining eXp.


Perhaps it was a matter of luck, intuition or both when Austin’s Allison Gaddy joined eXp Realty way back in 2015. That move made Gaddy eXp agent No. 641, never imagining the company would grow so quickly, now exceeding 85,000+ agents worldwide.

“It’s been a lot of fun,” said Gaddy. “At the time, I told a lot of leaders I was going to this no-name company. My dad said if he were my age, he would make the move, too. Three years later, he joined.”

Allison Gaddy joined eXp Realty in September 2015, calling it the “best decision in her life.”

The long and winding road has been exhilarating for the Texas native who calls herself a “diehard entrepreneur.” She invested in real estate at a young age, being influenced by her dad,  Michael Gaddy, a longtime Keller Williams agent. Allison founded and grew her own successful independent brokerage in Chicago in 2003, Oak Street Capital. When the market stalled in 2008 and Chicago’s brutal winters got to her, she then relocated to sunny California, enrolling in USC’s prestigious film school where she got her master’s in fine arts, but continued to dabble in real estate and mortgage banking on the side. 

In 2010, she was recruited to join a video production team back in her home state of Texas. She worked there for a couple of years, but after a near-death accident, she spent time recovering and then eventually returned to real estate, joining Keller Williams. Eventually, her path crossed with Nicole Rouseau, an eXp agent who showed Allison the model and the rest is history.

“I have always been forward-thinking, an entrepreneur and a visionary and I immediately understood the eXp model,” said Gaddy.

These days, Allison is enjoying the fruits of her labor, splitting time between Puerto Rico and Austin, all the while running what she calls two lanes of business: her real estate team and building her revenue share network. She also operates her coaching business, Expert Partners, with Don Hobbs, her life and business partner who was just recently named President of eXp’s newly acquired SUCCESS Enterprises.  

In reflecting on her own success, she points to her film degree as helping to inform a lot of her marketing approach. “I think through listings and ask, “Who is my audience? What are the distribution channels?’”

Gaddy has used her immense influence to build a large and rapidly growing real estate organization, which now spans more than 25 states, the United Kingdom and India.

Is there one especially satisfying real estate story you can share?

“We have the single greatest opportunity the real estate industry has ever seen right in front of us.  It is the opportunity to make money, build wealth, through being a great leader in the industry.  It’s crazy that many of the agents who are given this opportunity only think (I don’t understand.)

“Being a great leader is ridiculously self-rewarding. No great leader starts out thinking about the benefits for themselves.  In fact, the opposite is true. All great leaders think about others first, and by doing so, their behaviors and actions are molded into those of a great leader.”

Best tip to share with other agents:

“Potential should be a cuss word. Show me — don’t tell me.   It’s a shame how many talented people don’t live up to their God-given potential. Becoming a great leader is a way to live up to your potential through actions and results.

“The next time you think about how important it is for you to develop and improve as a leader, know the biggest benefit will be for those that you influence.”
