Longtime eXp Agents Dave Gagnon and Traci Lewis Tying the Knot In Real-life and Virtually on Virbela Campus

Each week as a team leader for seven real estate offices across New England, Dave Gagnon would wake up early on Monday morning, drive hundreds of miles to each office and return home on Friday. 

One day in 2012, Gagnon received a call from eXp Realty CEO Jason Gesing about joining eXp Realty. He politely declined. Despite exhaustion from constant travel, he was accustomed to his current schedule and brokerage. 

Six months later, Jason reached out again. Believing it would be fiscally irresponsible to make a decision without hearing all the facts, Dave agreed. After hearing the presentation, he joined eXp Realty in January 2013 as agent No. 123.

Gagnon and Lewis First Met Via Virtual Class in eXp World

Dave began his eXp career as an agent in Manchester, New Hampshire, and he also served as director of cloud leadership and growth, helping eXp evolve as a cloud-based, agent-centric brokerage. 

He also taught classes in eXp World, the company’s 3D virtual platform for work developed by eXp subsidiary Virbela. This is where he met his future wife, Traci Lewis, who was attending one of his classes before she joined eXp. She launched San Antonio for eXp in 2015 and is proudly agent No. 856.

Traci recalls meeting Dave in person for the first time at an EXPCON golf tournament in Las Vegas. “I asked Gene Frederick, who was at the time the Texas state broker, if he could arrange for me to play golf with (eXp founder, chairman and CEO) Glenn Sanford and he said ‘Dave Gagnon could make that happen.’” “I said, which one is Dave Gagnon?’ Gene said, ‘The guy with the clipboard.’ About three seconds later, Dave turned the corner. From the day I met Dave, he has helped me in every way possible. After four hours with Glenn and Debbie, I knew I’d found my home. And we won the tournament!”

Over the years, Traci has thoroughly leveraged eXp’s business model by adding 6,091 agents to her revenue share group. She also teaches classes through eXp University and has written real estate books such as the “Millionaire Mindset for Real Estate Wealth,” which addresses eXp’s business model.

Dave has added 4,258 agents to his revenue share group and has seen eXp Realty go from 123 agents in 2012 to more than 62,000 in August 2021. The couple has also gotten engaged and divide their time between Manchester, New Hampshire and Hammock Beach, Florida. On Sept. 4, 2021, they will be getting married in New Hampshire and on Virbela’s virtual world campus. 

David O’Leary, an eXp broker associate in La Palma, Calif., will serve as wedding officiant. Hundreds of eXp agents, friends and family are expected to attend the eXp-themed wedding in-person, and thousands more can join Glenn Sanford and Jason Gesing and attend virtually. “It was Jason Gesing’s idea!” Traci said. “Jason is the one who introduced Dave to eXp and when Dave told him we were engaged, he was so happy for us and suggested a wedding in the cloud! It’s a brilliant way to introduce our friends and family to the power of the campus and show them why we are so passionate about eXp!” 

The wedding will be live-streamed at 10 a.m. PT, with the ceremony beginning at 10:30 a.m. PT on Virbela’s Campus 6, which has been dubbed “the Chapel in the Cloud” for this special event. In honor of eXp Realty, the wedding flowers will be blue and orange birds of paradise.

At EXPCON in Fort Lauderdale, I got the first-ever EXPI tattoo to celebrate earning $1 million in revenue share. I’ve learned more and grown more than ever and I’ve become financially and time free!”

What is one thing about eXp that surprised you?

“We’re surprised any other real estate company is in business. The only agents not with eXp are the ones who don’t understand it or can’t do math.”

What is your opinion of eXp World?

“It’s what Gene Roddenberry (‘Star Trek’ creator) had in mind when he beamed people up. It’s very convenient and fascinating how it brings people together with technology.”  

Have you had any experience or success with eXp’s global revenue or commercial businesses?

“Yes. I recruited one of the first eXp Commercial agents back in 2016,” said Traci. “Commercial agents understand math — so the growth here should be tremendous! My time with Century 21 showed me the power of international expansion. For many years, it seemed like there were more folks from other countries than from the U.S. at our events.”

What kind of collaboration have you experienced at eXp?

“It’s massive! With the events and training and masterminds, we all want to help each other. We love our eXp family!”

Best tip to share with other agents:

“Invest heavily in your personal growth,” said Traci. “I spend more than $100,000 a year on my personal development and it’s paid off tenfold.”
