The impact on the real estate industry of eXp Realty’s cloud-based brokerage and its rapid growth is indisputable. The 2020 Swanepoel Power 200 ranking just named eXp’s Glenn Sanford and Jason Gesing among the most industry’s most influential leaders. 

Sanford, founder of eXp and CEO of eXp World Holdings, was ranked No. 15 on this year’s power rankings. It is a significant jump from his No. 32 spot in 2018 — a sign that eXp’s explosive growth in 2019 has made the industry take notice.

“Sanford leads the fast-growing cloud-based real estate brokerage company eXp World Holdings, which he founded in 2009 and now has over 25,000 agents in the U.S. and Canada. The company’s agents do over $19 billion in annual sales, making eXp Realty the nation’s sixth-largest company. eXp began trading on the NASDAQ in 2018 and had a valuation approaching $1 billion for much of 2019,’’ Stefan Swanepoel said in a January 14 news release. 

Further cementing eXp’s rise is the inclusion of Jason Gesing in the Swanepoel Power 200. Gesing, who was named eXp Realty’s CEO in 2019 after holding many prominent roles in the company since his arrival in 2010, is ranked No. 170 overall.

The Swanepoel Power 200 ranking is based on more than 400 hours of research and a deep analysis of real estate industry numbers and organizational charts. Industry leaders are evaluated based on:

  • The office the industry leader holds. 
  • The decision-making power associated with the office. 
  • The financial resources at their disposal.
  • Their organization’s industry significance and geographical reach. 
  • Public announcements about imminent changes.
  • Their tenure and their personal influence in the industry.
