Karen Rollings has been in the real estate industry in Montgomery County, Maryland, since 1980 and has seen it all. She was an agent, an associate broker, and then owned her own brokerage as well as a franchise. But after doing the math, she saw how eXp Realty’s business model could help her secure her own financial future.

“In five years, based on my current production, I will have a healthy amount of stock,” said Rollings of eXp’s revenue share, commission and stock awards model. “With my previous company, I would have nothing. In addition, I believe my income should increase substantially over the five-year period, which I can now put into retirement.”

Rollings also wants her children to benefit from what eXp offers. Her daughter, Maggie, and son, Jeremy, are both agents with eXp and she wants them to get an early start to have a secure financial future thanks to eXp’s unique financial model.

“I decided on eXp because I believe it will be the Amazon of real estate and will revolutionize the industry,” she said.  “Instead of the owners getting all the profits, the agents share in the profits. It’s just an amazing model.”

Rollings’ main territory encompasses the northerly side of the Washington, D.C. beltway including Maryland and Northern Virginia. She works out of Olney, Maryland, which is just 17 miles north of Washington. She has 25 people on her team, selling modestly priced homes to luxury manor homes and everything in between. She likes helping people and would like to see everyone on the team benefit from what eXp has to offer.

In 2019, she closed on about 100 homes for more than $50 million in sales.

Rollings achieved the dream many agents do, which is opening her own brokerage in 1985. American Venture Realty had 20 agents — many who are still in the business with thriving careers. She opened a second branch in 1988 and then eventually sold it. In 1995, she joined RE/MAX until she purchased a Prudential franchise, Prudential Advantage Realty in 2008, which was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty.

“After experiencing three different types of real estate models, and experiencing many different markets, I feel eXp Realty is the best choice for me to grow my business,” said Rollings, who joined eXp in March 2020. “It offers the best, cutting-edge ideas and resources for my clients.”

“And, then at age 67, I can sit back, relax and work part-time,” she said.  When I retire, all my hard work will not just go away.  My kids can take it over!  It just makes so much financial sense.”

It sounds like the perfect formula to us!
