In several exciting announcements at eXpcon Miami during the second general session at eXpcon 2024 on Tuesday, eXp Realty unveiled two new agent incentive programs designed to significantly enhance agents’ earning potential: the ICON Incentive Program and the Capping Revenue Share Incentive Program. (Read more here.)
“I’m really excited about these programs,” said eXp World Holding Founder, CEO and Chairman Glenn Sanford. “Everything is iterative at eXp — we are always acting as if we are in Beta all the time. With this agile mindset, we can make changes and adjustments, which benefit our most valuable asset – our agents.”
Glenn explained that agents who are seeing the benefits of RevShare 2.0 will like the enhancements of the Rev Share Capping program and ICON programs, set to begin Nov. 1.
“We built eXp for the agents for long-term residual income for retirement. We wanted to figure out how to make it the best rev share program for agents producing – reward people who are producing.”
HomeHunter a Game-Changer for eXp International Agents
Glenn also introduced HomeHunter, a groundbreaking tool developed and designed exclusively for eXp International agents. While domestic agents can virtually access any property across multiple portals, this level of access is not available internationally, where property portals control the market, driving up costs and limiting agent access to client data.
HomeHunter tackles these challenges by aggregating listings from various websites into a single dashboard, giving agents direct insight into their clients’ saved homes and preferences. Glenn emphasized that this tool aims to “get our agents in control of the data and break the stranglehold” of property portals dominating international real estate.
Glenn explained real estate listings internationally are like the Wild West. “There is no MLS and you don’t have a governing body to keep costs under control. Portals control the marketplace and continue to charge our agents more and more each year. It is the single biggest cost to run a brokerage outside of the U.S. and Canada. With HouseHunter, our goal is to literally break the stranglehold of these portals charging millions a year.”
Glenn also teased out a few other international highlights:
- Expanding into other countries in addition to the three countries announced during the first general session. Conversations are happening around Argentina, Japan, China, and Malaysia.
- Rebuilding the eXp International website
- Creating a ubiquitous model internationally with two different caps – $20K for high-income countries and $13K for other markets, based on the U.S. cap.
- Working on agent tech stack. CRMs, portals, and HouseHunters global.
- Accessing a Regus office anywhere in the world.
Neuroscientist René Rodriguez Challenges Agents to Be Mindful
René Rodríguez, a renowned neuroscience strategist and one of the most sought-after leadership experts in the industry, came on stage. His approach simplifies the complex science of human behavior, blending neuroscience and psychology with practical tools in self-awareness, emotions, storytelling, and body language.
“There are things you can’t see, but what you can’t see can transform your life and make it better,” René explained, highlighting how distractions and emotions shape our attention and decisions.
In a fun demonstration, René asked agents to unlock their phones and hand them to the person next to them.
“Can you feel that sense of fear and panic in the room?” he asked, underscoring how our attention can be hijacked. He added, “Pay attention to your attention. From a psychological perspective, your entire attention was consumed — and you missed what just happened on stage.” During the distraction, René took a selfie with eXp Realty CEO Leo Pareja, a moment many in the audience missed, proving how easily we overlook the present.
René continued by addressing how media and social platforms control our narratives through algorithms, urging agents to be mindful of the stories they buy into. “Distraction is a powerful tool, but we can use the same psychology to change our lives and see the good in the world.”
He closed with a profound message learned from his mother and Steve Harney, founder of Keeping Current Matters: “The cavalry is not coming to save you. The better news is – the cavalry is already here because YOU are the cavalry.”
René encouraged the audience to step up and be the voices of change, reminding them that now is the best time to buy a home and grow alongside a flourishing company like eXp Realty.
“Ask yourself, which team are you on?”
Leo Pareja’s 2024 State of the Union: Key Market Insights and Predictions for 2025
During his State of the Union address, Leo Pareja, CEO of eXp realty, provided a comprehensive overview of the current real estate market while offering a hopeful outlook for 2025. Known for his data-driven approach, Leo emphasized the importance of context and how it shapes his market analysis. He also highlighted that, with 76 media interviews under his belt this year, the industry is eager to hear what eXp has to say about the shifting real estate landscape.
Economic Factors Impacting the Market — Leo opened by addressing the economic factors influencing the housing market, noting that consumer spending — mostly driven by mortgage debt — is currently sustaining the economy, even as credit card debt reaches record highs.
Surviving the Market’s Toughest Year — Although the housing market has seen 36 consecutive months of declining existing home sales, he encouraged agents not to lose hope.
“You just survived the worst year in 35 years,” Leo remarked, but pointed to a silver lining: pending home sales are rising, thanks to the gradual easing of interest rates. He predicted that the Federal Reserve would cut rates two more times by the end of 2024, with a full percentage point reduction expected in 2025, bringing the market closer to the 5.5% rate that would encourage sidelined buyers to jump back in.
The Power of Personal Connections — Looking forward to 2025, Leo stressed the importance of real estate agents maintaining personal connections, advising them to spend the year “belly-to-belly” with their clients. He recommended that agents reach out to every client they’ve sold a home to in recent years, offering CMAs to keep relationships strong.
Optimism for Inventory Growth — There’s optimism ahead, with housing inventory up by 34% year-over-year and new construction inventory providing more supply to help meet demand. However, with the U.S. still short by 5 million homes, there’s more work to be done.
Key Demographic Shifts — Leo also highlighted key demographic shifts, particularly the Hispanic market, which is driving much of the population growth. “Most of the population growth in this market is coming from the Hispanic market. Get someone on your team that can take care of that demographic,” he advised.
A Positive Outlook for 2025 — Leo wrapped up his speech by offering agents an encouraging outlook, predicting a 10% increase in total transactions in 2025. He also reminded them of their critical role: “You guide families through the most expensive transaction of their lives. You are there to be that expert guide to shepherd them home.”
With his focus on actionable insights and a positive market shift, Leo’s message left eXp agents empowered and ready to face the challenges and opportunities ahead in 2025.
Wendy Forsythe Leads “Where the Pros Go to Grow” Panel
eXp Realty CMO Wendy Forsythe moderated a panel including eXp Maryland agent Brandon Brittingham, CanZell Realty founder Chantel Ray, Philadelphia’s Matt Fetick and Calgary powerhouse Justin Havre.
The panelists each detailed their respective journeys to eXp Realty. “Revenue is for vanity, profit is for sanity,” Chantel said. “I knew if I wanted to reach my goal, I needed to go to a place where I can make an astronomical amount of money and then give it away to those in need.”
“Guess what, we have better support than we ever had before,” Justin added. “You never had a 35-second answer response at your previous brokerage. We are the Amazon of real estate.”
Brandon outlined one of his main reasons for joining: “I saw Justin joined and I didn’t even need to know why, I was in,” he said. “If you want people to join you, you need to help them understand what the experience will be. That’s what worked for me.”
Matt talked about his 90 days at eXp so far: “I wanted to focus solely on my sales business and where I wanted to be in 2030. I was a ‘never eXp guy’ and I had some really great opportunities in front of us, but I had friends who were regularly reaching out over time. I’ve also known Leo for a long time so I opened myself to it and just listened.”
And the rest, as they say, is history.
Eden Jeffery Encourages Connections
Eden Jeffery, one of the founders of eXp Realty’s Young Professionals network, gave a talk encouraging agents to make connections for success.
“I am a completely different person than I was two years ago. I was afraid of doing a Zoom call and look at me now — on stage at eXpcon.” Here are her tips:
Step Outside Your Comfort Zone – Eden emphasized the importance of pushing beyond your boundaries, even before you feel ready. She encouraged agents to “get comfortable being uncomfortable” because it’s in those moments of discomfort that growth happens.
Set Yourself Apart – To stand out in a competitive market, you need to highlight what makes you unique. Eden asked agents to think about how they can spark meaningful conversations that leave a lasting impression. Whether it’s your expertise, personality, or approach, identifying your differentiators is key.
Build Genuine Relationships – Eden shared how her business grew by an incredible 2,100% by building authentic connections. She advised agents to get plugged into resource groups, stay in touch, and follow up consistently.
One Conversation Can Change Your Life – She stressed the importance of standing out and nurturing relationships, reminding agents that meaningful connections are more valuable than simply adding contacts to a list.
In conclusion, Eden challenged agents to connect with five people, but not just through quick introductions. Instead, go beyond the surface and truly connect.
Building Success Through Relationships
eXp Realty agent Melody Kleoni moderated a panel including Vane Monroe, Steve Johnstone and Ibrahim Hussein, discussing how to build collaborative relationships that drive success.
“Relationships are the currency for any business growth,” Ibrahim said. “People know if you are genuine. When it comes to revenue share, the bigger the player and the more substance they have, the more unrecruitable they become.”
“It’s about building genuine relationships and being human,” Melody added. Steve talked about relationship-driven sponsorships and building a community. “People don’t want to feel recruited,” he said.
The discussion turned to how to retain agents by building culture. “Everyone is different and has their fears,” Vane said. “My agents are like my family. I care so much about them and am constantly listening and supporting them.”
“People will always remember how you made them feel, whether intentional or unintentional,” Ibrahim noted. Steve added that it’s important to create an environment where growth can happen.
“When you have found that purpose, and you can help other people, for me that’s what it’s about,” Vane concluded.
LaShawn and Towanna Peterson-Jackson Champion Black Homeownership in Detroit
LaShawn and Towanna Peterson-Jackson, founders of a thriving real estate team in Detroit, delivered an inspiring session titled “Educated, Celebrated, and Compensated,” focused on driving Black homeownership. They shared their personal journey, highlighting the impact of homeownership on building generational wealth.
“Homeownership is about more than just a place to live — it’s about creating generational wealth and empowering communities,” LaShawn emphasized, reflecting their commitment to making a difference through education and mentorship.
The Peterson-Jacksons have made education a cornerstone of their strategy, hosting homebuying seminars and pop-up events to help others navigate the path to homeownership.
“Success isn’t about the homes we sell — it’s about the community we build and the lives we touch,” LaShawn shared, pointing to their dedication to uplifting others. They also stressed the power of celebration, not just as a form of joy but as a way to unite and support each other, especially during difficult times. “Real celebration is supporting each other, especially when life gets hard,” Towanna explained.
Knowing your value was another key message. “When you’re educated and understand your worth, compensation follows naturally,” Towanna said. This philosophy drives their approach to mentorship, where they invest deeply in new agents and the community. Their efforts have led their team to excel, with agents reaching six-figure earnings despite a tough market. By fostering a culture of empowerment and education, the Peterson-Jacksons are setting a powerful example of how real estate can transform lives.
