Some of eXp Realty’s most powerful female leaders and agents, including Amanda Williams, Hollie Kitchens, Mindy Price and Claudienne Hibbert, came together for a “Women in Leadership” breakout session on the last day of EXPCON 2022, led by Texas-based eXp Realty agent, Smita Singh. Singh began the presentation with the definition of leadership from Webster’s dictionary:

Leadership, noun, a person who guides or directs a group.

From left, Amanda Williams, Claudienne Hibbert, Hollie Kitchens, Mindy Price and Smita Singh.

“I believe ‘leadership’ is actually a verb, an action item, the ability to influence people in a positive way,” says Singh.  “My leadership style is teaching others how to gain financial independence through real estate.”

She opened the Q&A session by posing this question of leadership style to the other female presenters.

“I want to understand before I’m understood,” says Kitchens.

Price agreed stating “I am, and have always been, servant-driven. I want to know what my team needs.”

Hibbert provided a different perspective, offering, “the speed of the leader determines the success of the group. Be able to make decisions fast, know what’s important now, rinse and repeat.”

Panelists Agree Collaboration and Education Are Key

The next part of the session discussed overcoming challenges in your business, balancing all aspects of life, top advice for becoming a successful leader and favorite inspirational quotes. Every panelist agreed that collaboration and education are some of the most important tips for leading a successful business.

“Be a life-long learner and continue to educate yourself,” says Price.

Hibbert added that, “the greater the risk the greater the return,” noting that the scariest decisions are often the start to your great story.

Kitchens shared her favorite quote by Simon Sinek: “When we tell people to do their jobs, we get workers. When we trust people to get the job done, we get leaders.”

She used this to inspire those in attendance to continue building tangible and shareable business assets to help bring up other leaders. Williams added, “don’t forget – you are the average of the five people you surround yourself with – don’t be a crab in a bucket and let others bring you down.”

The session wrapped with an overwhelming applause for everyone in the audience who made an appearance at this session, showed up for their business, and capitalized on all that EXPCON has to offer. Networking with like-minded people doing big things in their own businesses and leaning in to the learning opportunities provided by eXp Realty is the best first step to bringing this advice to life.
