Derek Tye leads The Tye Group in Cincinnati, Ohio, a highly successful team that has amassed more than $300 million in sales since 2004 with a few different brokerages.

As he was already in the middle of a successful real estate career, Tye felt eXp Realty’s model was the next logical step for the team’s business success. eXp’s business model was highly desirable for a few reasons: its cutting-edge technology, ability to expand without costly overhead and collaboration among agents across the brokerage.

“I love the ease and low start-up costs of building my own unique local business without all the expense, hassle and territory disputes of other companies,” said Tye. 

Tye’s three-person team completed a little more than $28 million in sales on about 100 transactions in 2019. But this accomplishment is just the tip of the iceberg for the entrepreneur, who calls God, his wife and family as his main priorities in how he lives his life and conducts business. 

Tye is the author of two books, “Seven Levers for Success In Selling Real Estate” and “The Lord’s Prayer For Entrepreneurs” and has credited a colleague from his Christian business networking group, Jeff Lewis, for introducing him to eXp.

“Jeff has a big vision to build an international virtual real estate team and I liked what he was doing,” said Tye. “I want to do the same thing and thought he would be a great person to help me kick start that next part of my real estate career.”

Not only does Tye have an uber-successful real estate business, but he is a real estate coach, an investor/owner of luxury short-term rental homes, is past president of The Southern Ohio Association of Realtors, the past president of The Montgomery Ohio Chamber of Commerce and was awarded the Southern Ohio Association of Realtors “Realtor of the Year.”

“Industry leaders are attracted to our technology, tools and training, which allow them to achieve increased profitability, reduced risk and greater levels of professional development,” said Dave Conord, eXp’s President of U.S. Growth.

Tye said team members Rob Sheil, a top local Realtor, and Amber Wisman, the Tye Group’s Director of Operations, also made the move to eXp.

“I enjoy the people I have met so far and feel like there is a huge potential for more agents in my area to join eXp,” said Tye. “Also, I just got a look at eXp’s avatar world and have to say it’s pretty neat!”
