It’s easy to see why eXp Realty agent Marquetta Bryant earned the eXp Ethics in Action Award, an honor eXp Realty bestows quarterly on agents who exemplify a pattern of exceptional agent behavior based on eXp’s nine core values and other criteria.

“At the core of everything I do is my need to help people — because what’s life about?” explains Marquetta, who is an eXp agent in the greater Atlanta region.

Marquetta has been a real estate agent since 2011, first in the Washington, D.C. metro for a major brokerage and then moving to Atlanta in 2014 where she continued with the same brokerage. A “bad office fit” motivated Marquetta to move elsewhere and she joined eXp in April 2020.

“A lot of my friends were at eXp, but also people who I absolutely admire and who share my same core values,” said Marquetta. “I like to be around like-minded thinkers who feel the same way about real estate and business and helping people. It’s important to me.”

eXp’s Ethics in Action Award is being given for the first time and recognizes agents who lead by doing “things the right way” by conducting themselves according to eXp’s core values, adhering to the company’s policies and procedures, their commitment to the Independent Contractor Agreement and compliance with the Agent Attraction Pledge.

Recipients of this award are selected from candidates who are nominated by their agent peers, brokers, and eXp staff members.

Marquetta dreams of having a real estate team comprised of military veterans.

In 2019, Marquetta completed about 36 transactions with $5 million in sales, which she calls a slow year — mainly due to caring for her ill grandmother. But, it’s not money that drives Marquetta — it’s about taking care of people, which she witnessed from Day One.

“We grew up poor in Washington D.C.,” said Marquetta. “I was raised by a single mom, but I always saw her helping someone. Taking some in, feeding them.

“I built my business around helping people — the disenfranchised – those who are turned down by lenders, discriminated against – that’s my core base. I work with people who have bad credit. I genuinely care about people.”

Because Marquetta comes from a military family — her grandfather and uncle were both in the U.S. Army — she has a dream to have a real estate team of all military veterans. She also feels deeply in her purpose to help others.

“We each have a ministry and have a purpose and if you walk in that, no one can take it from you,” said Marquetta.

And as for being a real estate agent, she holds strong to her values to serve others with honor and integrity.

“I will never put anyone in a bad position,” she said, “I don’t like gambling with people’s livelihood. I am who I am. I’m not going to test who I am for money.”
