Spokane’s Mark Anderson faced what many other real estate team leaders face when they have a desire to grow their territory and team: costly roadblocks.
Between 2015-2020, Anderson expanded his 23-person Keller Williams team to Washington’s Tri-Cities (Kennewick, Richland, and Pasco) and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, but said that “trying to deal with new market centers and new splits, caps, paperwork made it very difficult.”
Anderson noticed his former real estate coach moved over to eXp Realty and began researching why. He soon found eXp’s business model and freedom to expand without the costly overhead and fees was the solution he was looking for.
“I am all about looking for new opportunities and with eXp they provide new opportunities for me and my team to grow and build future wealth,” said Anderson, whose team closed on $79 million in sales on 332 transactions in 2019.
Anderson got started in real estate in 1986 in Vancouver, Washington, when he and his wife, Steffanie, bought their first home. He then expanded into investing in rental properties and eventually home flips, doing more than 100 homes between 1998 and 2007 until the market crashed and he lost everything. He and his wife decided to move to Spokane to be closer to their children who were going to college in Eastern Washington. It was here that he took a hiatus from real estate, running bookkeeping and consulting business for a while. But, real estate was always his siren song and he jumped back in around 2013.
Anderson joined eXp in April 2020, citing eXp’s revenue share plan, stock awards program, and ability to easily expand to new markets as his main reasons for joining.
“After we joined eXp, two different agents from two different cities that we have never served before asked to join our team,” said Anderson. “Now we can grow seamlessly.”
