Bobby Martins was very happy working at the No. 1 real estate office in all of San Diego. But, he was hungry for something more. Maybe buy a franchise? Start his own brokerage? Become a team leader at an office? 

His aha moment came when he researched the eXp Realty model and knew immediately it solved all of his needs. 

“I didn’t want to be just an agent. After 15 years in the business, I felt I had learned the necessary skills to coach and train agents,” said Martins. “Also, I didn’t want the financial and time commitment to a physical office. I have a family that I love and want to be around as much as I can. With this model, eXp has given me a license to attract agents across the globe and build teams all over the place.”

“There’s only so many transactions you can do in my city.  Being able to partner up with agents across the country has been incredibly motivating and rewarding. It’s motivated me to increase sales, and we are now generating more leads than ever before. I am really enjoying building a virtual brokerage where I can coach and train other agents to be a success across the country and globe. And I can do it from anywhere in the world while not being tied to one city.  I now have the goal to have four homes and teams in my four favorite cities.”

Is there a significant experience you can share since joining eXp?

“In the short time that I’ve been here at eXp, I have really felt the love from so many of our fellow agents and executive staff. I guess I have to say the first time meeting (eXp World Holdings Founder and CEO) Glenn Sanford was pretty special. He actually walked up to me and introduced himself at my first eXp shareholders event. He had seen a debate video that I had done online and said I did a great job representing the company. I’ve been greatly surprised by how he interacts with his agents.  He is why so many of us are here.  The model he created works amazingly well for producing agents.  The revenue share model creates a community of support for ALL agents.  I’ve never felt more supported by agents in any company. It’s not even close.”

What is one thing about eXp that surprised you? 

“The referrals. There truly is a big network of agents referring deals to each other every day through our Workplace community.  This Facebook platform allows you to communicate freely with everyone in the company.  It really keeps us all connected and able to solve problems quickly.”

What kind of collaboration have you experienced at eXp?

“I have really enjoyed conversations I’ve had with Aaron Taylor out of Las Vegas who brought over 40+ agents to eXp from his independent brokerage. He has sold 5,000+ homes!!!! The information that I have learned from him has really helped me grow. Peter Middleton, Mitch Ribak, Dave Gagnon, Renee and Jeff Funk, Jason Gesing and literally dozens of others have contributed in a huge way as well.   We are able to crowdsource a support system unlike any other.

“Let’s be honest, at every other brokerage the agents are not truly rooting for the success of other agents in their company. Best tip to share with other agents

“The best tip I have for agents right now is to educate buyers that the game has completely changed on how you buy a home. Many multiple listing services have added a “coming soon” feature.  This means that Realtors are now relevant again when it comes to controlling the data. We are now monitoring the “coming soon” listings and positioning our clients for an accepted offer on Day 1. If a buyer is using public portals, they will be late to the party. We have put six buyers in escrow in the last couple of weeks using this method. Your call to action is to create a video and send it to every single lead in your CRM and educate them on the change.

“Realize, your website becomes less and less valuable because of this change. You will need to send listings from the MLS from now on.  The data is being put back in our hands, let’s be smart with it and put our clients in a successful position.”
