Fortune 500 companies have called on motivational speaker Glenn Bill time and time again to do what he does best: Deliver a message that will turn heads and change attitudes.
The Indianapolis-based eXp Realty agent is a master at pumping up the crowd and sharing his positivity, and in these unprecedented times, we asked Bill to share his tips with us on how to deal with concerns and changing rules in real estate during this COVID-19 health crisis.
Like a true pro at finding the exact message, Bill delivered one succinct word of advice: Resourcefulness.
“The bottom line is we are all dealing with fewer resources, but it’s not really about resources – it’s about your resourcefulness,” said Bill.

A shortage of listings, an inability to get into homes; shifting rules about what is an essential service; lenders unable to close in 30 days: These are the challenges real estate professionals currently face. Bill said that this “new normal” is presenting us with more limited resources to success, however, that is not a show-stopper.
“It’s the agent who understands how to be resourceful – they are the ones who will thrive,’’ he insists.
Being resourceful means the ability to adapt to changing situations, such as this coronavirus outbreak. So, how does one become resourceful? Bill leans into a basic tenet of what makes for a successful real estate salesperson:
“Find a mentor and copy them. Get tips from survivors who did it in 2008. Find them and copy every single thing they do.”
Here is a quick video from Bill who discusses how to win in real estate and life. Watch:
Bill said the market crash of 2008 was one of his best years, selling 238 homes with Century 21 “because everyone was complaining about it (the market), instead of doing something about it.” That period is giving us a similar blueprint for how to navigate a rough market, he said.
“Homes are expiring and deals are falling apart,” he said. “People need a good agent now more than ever. Demonstrate your value. The market is willing to listen to those who are smart and resourceful now more than ever.”
Bill Offers Tips to Agents During This Unprecedented Time
Bill said agents should identify expired listings and fall-through sales to make their expertise known. Also, agents should educate themselves on the financing puzzle and how to get a mortgage in this changing environment so they can help educate clients.
Some other tips:
- Contact local radio and newspapers. Offer content and advice. Be seen as an expert.
- Binge read books/sites that offer tips for success.
- Create content and position yourself as an expert.
- Network online with as many people as possible, including potential clients, peers and experts.
Bill possesses an innate ability to find the silver lining in all things, and to always be positive. This led him to start his “attitude” series, which includes daily attitude workouts on Facebook @universityofattitude; a “Get Attitude” podcast, a book (“The ABCs of Attitude”), and the all-encompassing University of Attitude site, which offers workshops, speaking engagements and messages of positivity.
As a former Division I football player at Ball State, Bill is also passionate about the sport in which the best teams thrive on motivational players and coaches. As a longtime assistant high school football coach in Indianapolis, Bill’s team won 11 state championships, and he coached several athletes who later became NFL players.
This pattern of success helped make Bill a top producer at Century 21 at age 20. By the time he was 23, he bought a franchise with two partners which he helped run until 37, when he sold everything to create a real estate training system.

These days, Bill sells about 100 homes a year with his eXp team and has also ventured into commercial real estate.
“I’m in a really cool place building my sales business, speaking and the eXp business,” said Bill. “I love the organization and vision. My ninja strategy is that as I continue to speak and influence, I’ll attract people by leading with attitude.”
Bill cites Zig Zigler’s famous quote, “People often say motivation doesn’t last. Neither does bathing — that’s why we recommend it daily.”
It’s clear that by being in Bill’s world, you can’t help but see the glass as half full.
