Members of the U.S. Armed Forces have a creed “that no man is left behind.” It’s something that eXp Commercial advisor Brian Perry has extended into every aspect of his life. After serving as an officer in the U.S. Army, Brian successfully transitioned to a career as a commercial agent, specializing in medical space in the DMV. He joined eXp Commercial in February 2023 and his commitment to helping other veterans is foremost.
“Brian was extremely helpful in guiding me towards my transition out of the military. As I focused on a pivot toward commercial real estate, Brian offered advice and insight that was valuable toward my decision. If you are a veteran or active duty transitioning, Brian is a great resource to help get you on the right path towards a CRE career,” Justin Virts wrote on Brian’s LinkedIn page.
It was just one of the many accolades Brian received in helping veterans transition to a CRE career.
Brian’s Military Service Taught Him to Make the Complex, Simple
“It was an honor to serve this country,” Brian wrote on his LinkedIn page. I became very conscious of my voice early in my career. As an officer, you are front and center with all eyes on your performance from your peers.
“My military career included deployments to Guantanamo Bay and Iraq. Having interpreters assigned to me for over a year made me very good at catching myself when I began to speak with complexity. My superpower then became making the complex simple.”
Next Stop: Getting the Prestigious CCIM Designation
Never one to stop growing and pushing, Brian earned the prestigious CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation in 2022 through the CCIM Foundation Veterans Scholarship Program. He feels it elevated his standing as a commercial agent in the DMV (D.C., Maryland and Virginia) where he specializes in medical office space.
“Getting a CCIM pin is like going from being a private to an officer in the military,” said Brian.
Brian Joined eXp Commercial to Elevate His Career
After spending several years with Health-Pro Realty Group, he made the switch to eXp Commercial in February 2023 for several reasons:
- eXp Commercial aligned with his goals
- He wanted to be part of an existing healthcare advisory team to collaborate, brainstorm and maximize deal flow
- Enjoy better broker splits
“I see eXp Commercial as an opportunity to grow my brand, be part of a team, and later bring in team members,” said Brian.
“eXp Commercial’s healthcare team led by Jeff Albee has already led us on a path of exciting new directives that I never would have thought of on my own. eXp World is also very cool. You can view all the partnerships eXp has and get your issues addressed just like you would in a real office.
“I have confidence that the leadership team at eXp is truly trying to make eXp Commercial agents successful. Not everything will be perfect in the beginning, but eXp is a firm you can stay with long-term no matter what you want in your brokerage career.”
