It’s no surprise that Carlie Fink-Maddux earned her bachelor of fine arts degree in performance and choreography and once ran her own dance studio. But it was her leap from banking into real estate, and then to becoming a staff member at eXp Realty, which has been as graceful as any grand pirouette.

Carlie had been an audit manager for Wells Fargo for seven years in Raleigh, North Carolina, when she made the jump into real estate.

“My wife Tiffany was in real estate already with Coldwell Banker and loved it,” she explained. “They needed a listings manager and I was on maternity leave at the time. I wanted more flexibility so I could put my family first.” 

A Dance With Destiny

Carlie then went to real estate school and earned her license, joining Coldwell Banker in 2015 as a listing manager. And the rest, as they say, is history. She fell in love with the transactional side of real estate and the data that goes behind it. In 2018, she joined eXp Realty as an agent. And when an opening came up on the staff side for the transaction team, she jumped at the chance. 

“The training was so amazing, it was very hands-on. I worked my way up to manage 25 U.S. states from Maine to Florida and parts of the Central region,” Carlie said. 

‘Now I am Senior Global Transactions Manager, managing transactional processes and training in more than 20 countries.’

What does she love about eXp Realty? She cites the company’s high Emotional Intelligence Quotient and focus on diversity, equity and inclusion, all of which make her feel valued as a person. She in turn gives back to the eXp community by sharing her talents as a yoga teacher. She conducts two Monday Mindfulness sessions every week, which are 15- to 20-minute guided meditations that kick off the work week.

When and why did you join eXp?

“I joined eXp in 2018. Originally I joined as an agent because I loved the eXp business model, and saw the potential I could create for myself and my family! My wife (Tiffany Maddux – who is also a Managing Broker in North Carolina for eXp) and I have a small team with eXp, but brought too many people on!  Shortly after I joined as an agent, I joined the eXp staff, and have just worked my way up over the past four years.

The company has so much to offer and is so inclusive. I am part of the Pride Network as well as the eXp Diversity Equity & Inclusion group through eXp Workplace. eXp has provided so much training around diversity and inclusion it just blows my mind how emotionally intelligent the company is!” 

What makes eXp special to you? 

“The culture! Even though we work in a virtual world, I feel like I know my coworkers better than when I worked in an actual office. Every single person I work with enjoys coming to work everyday because of the amazing team environment we have built. There is no hierarchy; we are one, and so everyone feels comfortable asking questions and providing feedback and suggestions!”

Is there a significant experience you can share since you joined eXp?

EXPCON for sure! Finally getting to meet some of my most favorite people face to face! Also going to the events and listening to the VPs and presidents of the company speak – and now I am working with them and get to speak to them on a regular basis!” 

What is one thing about eXp that surprised you?

“I understood how the business model worked and the systems that were provided to the agents, but what surprised me is the amount of training and resources eXp provides to their agents, and it just keeps growing and growing.”

What kind of collaboration have you experienced at eXp?

“I have had the amazing opportunity to collaborate with so many other departments: accounting, agent experience, onboarding, legal and broker operations. That is the beauty of us all working remotely – no matter where in the world we are, we can still meet and collaborate together!”

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

I am living it! I have the best family, and work for the best company! 

Who is the person you most admire?

All the amazing women in my life: my wife, mother, sisters, friends. I love to learn from them and we help each other grow. We are each other’s biggest cheerleaders!

One thing you can’t live without?

Oreos! They are my guilty pleasure! 

One trait that has led to your success?

I don’t know what I don’t know! Willingness to ask questions and ask for help!

People with negative attitudes 

 Little known fact about yourself?

I am a 500 hour ERYT (yoga teacher), so in my very little spare time I teach yoga and meditation classes. I also do Meditation Monday with the U.S. Transactions team.

“Anything,” by Aerosmith. 

Favorite meal?

Chicken and dumplings.
