Being an entrepreneur means having a vision and not being afraid to take on big risks for big rewards. Such is the case for Glenn Sanford, Founder and CEO of eXp World Holdings who was named an Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2021 Pacific Northwest Region Award winner at EY’s virtual awards celebration on Aug. 4.
Sanford was one of eight Pacific Northwest winners selected from 17 finalists. Regional award winners are eligible for consideration for the Entrepreneur Of The Year National Awards to be announced Nov. 13 at the Strategic Growth Forum®, one of the nation’s most prestigious gatherings of high-growth, market-leading companies. The Entrepreneur Of The Year National Overall Award winner will then move on to compete for the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year™ Award in June 2022.
“It is an honor to be recognized as one of the 2021 Pacific Northwest Entrepreneurs Of The Year®,” said Sanford. “For more than three decades, this program has made a difference by encouraging entrepreneurial leaders who are helping to create a better future. This complements our vision to help people build businesses, run remote organizations and find the inspiration, motivation and training to achieve their goals.”
Now in its 35th year, the Entrepreneur Of The Year program is sponsored by EY, honoring “unstoppable business leaders whose ambition, ingenuity and courage in the face of adversity help catapult us from the now to next and beyond.”
Sanford Launched eXp in 2009
Sanford is a true visionary who launched eXp Realty in 2009 as the first completely cloud-based national real estate brokerage, where agents, brokers and staff collaborate, learn and transact business. It was in reaction to the housing crash of 2008 in which Sanford felt the idea of a traditional bricks-and-mortar real estate operation was not efficient or cost-effective, but especially not rewarding for agents. Over the years, eXp developed an agent-centric value proposition that provides multiple attractive benefits for agents such as a generous commission structure, stock options and a revenue-sharing program.
Under his leadership, eXp has grown to more than 60,000 real estate agents in the world, including brokerage operations in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, South Africa, India, Mexico, Portugal, France, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Italy, Hong Kong, Colombia, Spain, Israel and Panama, and continues to scale internationally.
eXp’s companies include Showcase IDX, a leading real estate search technology company; SUCCESS Enterprises, a leading personal development media brand; and Virbela, a virtual-world platform for work, education and events.
