This strategic decision brings 65 agents and a remarkable sales volume to eXp – one of the fastest-growing real estate companies in the industry.
The Delhougne Realty Group has consistently delivered impressive results. In 2023, Matt Delhougne and his team completed a staggering $353,330,000 in sales volume, handling 1,160 transactions. With a track record of selling a home every five hours and garnering 2,000 5-star reviews on Zillow, the team is positioned as one of eXp Realty’s highest-producing groups.
Matt’s decision to join eXp Realty was driven by a desire to mitigate the risks and liabilities inherent in running an independent brokerage, allowing him to refocus on his passion for training and coaching his team.
“Everybody wants to be an independent broker until key personnel resign or quit and leave you with legalities and contract changes,” said Matt. “I want to get back to working with my agents and helping them with training, lead acquisition, adding value, and ROI potential. I have been doing this for 25 years so I know what I like and what I don’t like.”
Before establishing his own brokerage in 2021, Matt Delhougne was with RE/MAX Vision, a franchise he owned. Under his leadership, the franchise achieved global recognition, ranking No. 2 in the world and No. 1 in Missouri.

Before finding enormous success in real estate, Matt served as a police officer in St. Louis County. His career shift was inspired by a chance encounter with a real estate agent setting up for an open house. Intrigued by the profession, he bought a house from her and quickly discovered his passion for the industry.
Matt says he does not use social media or mailers for marketing, but shares his enthusiasm for Zillow’s referral system, where his team ranks in the top 1% of all Zillow Flex partners.
“I’ve been with almost every real estate company you can think of,” Matt said. “I’ve owned two mortgage companies – one was the No. 1 Motto Mortgage franchise in the nation. I owned two RE/MAXes. I sold franchises for Exit Realty. I’ve been coached by five or six different coaches. I’m too dumb and stubborn to quit and not know any better, so I kept on moving forward. I started advertising with this little company called Zillow and kept doubling and tripling and quadrupling down.”
An admitted workaholic, Matt also attributes much of his success to the incredible support of his wife, Shannon. Now financially free and living a life he once only dreamed of, Matt’s focus has shifted to empowering his agents. He is dedicated to providing them with the resources, leads, and competitive splits they need to thrive, especially in a challenging market.
“I need to pour into them and be completely available for them,” he said.
