Five years after switching brokerages, Matt Ruotolo has notched a number that tells the tale of how eXp Realty fuels exponential growth. Even as an individual agent, Matt has no shortage of team members. But today, his revenue share pipeline stands at 125 eXp agents. 

Matt is an agent for eXp’s Carolina’s Group, but his reach goes beyond the Carolinas and all the way to Colorado Springs. eXp is a virtual brokerage that poses no limits to its 85,000+ agents, so Matt gladly seized on eXp’s industry-changing model.

A former mortgage company vice president, Matt became an agent in 2016. He moved to eXp in 2018, when Marcus Dilley – the owner of his Carolinas Realty Group where Matt worked – showed Matt how everyone at the brokerage could benefit from eXp. That started the ball rolling – fast!

‘eXp has afforded me a life I could not have imagined’

Within weeks of moving to eXp, Matt then shared what he was doing with his buddy, Joe Bilbro. 

“I told Joe I had just made a move to eXp and because I trusted him so much I wanted him to look at the model and give me his honest opinion. I was still relatively new in the business and wasn’t really sure about my move yet,’’ Matt said.

“After Joe looked at everything he called me a few days later. I asked him his opinion and he said ‘I don’t think you realize what you have.’ I asked, ‘What do you think I have?’ and he said, ‘You have a tiger by the tail and you don’t even know it.’ 

‘Relationships we have built have completely changed our lives’

Matt said that his wife, Chandra, had encouraged him to start building his own team at eXp. Instead, Matt was shocked at the networking ability and onboarding process that allowed him to attract new agents to the brokerage. It was a game-changer, he said. 

“Within a matter of weeks, Joe had brought his cousin Rob Bilbro, a tremendous agent in his own right, and Rob brought a few agents over. All of the sudden we had a rev share team and we didn’t even set out to do that. It was then that the magnitude of the opportunity to build new relationships and to grow in ways we never expected truly hit me and we have never looked back,’’ Matt said. 

Matt and his wife, Chandra, who he was able to “retire from her nursing career.”

The revenue share opportunity was so good that Matt proudly says that he “retired his wife from being an RN” and she now works with Matt.

My wife. She is one of the hardest working people I know, is a terrific mother and wife, and has the most incredible discernment of anyone I have ever met.

Joe Pesci.

Negativity.

I am a musician and released an album.
